Murder investigation underway after 34-year-old woman found dead in Belfast

A woman and two men have been arrested and remain in custody, in connection to the investigation.

LAST UPDATE | 16 May

A MURDER INVESTIGATION is underway after a 34-year-old woman was found dead at a house in Belfast yesterday afternoon.

The deceased has since been named as Kathryn ‘Kat’ Parton.

Police officers discovered her body in the bedroom of a house in the Madrid Street area of the city shortly before 4.25 pm.

PSNI Detective Inspector Michelle Griffin said Kathryn had sustained serious injuries to her head, and that “enquires remain ongoing in order to determine exactly what has happened”.

Three arrests have been made to date in connection with the investigation – a woman in her 40s and two men both in their 20s, all of whom remain in custody.

Police remain at the scene this morning.

Griffin added that her “thoughts are with Kathryn’s family, who are left trying to come to terms with their loss”.

She appealed to anyone who may have information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact PSNI officers on 101 and quoting reference 1190 15/05/24.

Alternatively, a report can be submitted online using the non-emergency reporting form here.

Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
